McLaren comedy play writing competitionMcLaren comedy play writing competition

Every entry is read and evaluated by at least three volunteer McLaren Readers—

January 1 through February 29, 2008 — entries accepted
     (We got that done!)
Sometime in April -- Honorable Mentions selected, all others removed from website to avoid brutal humiliation
(Also done. If you see that smiley, you're in, Bucky!)
Sometime around May -- Semi-Finalists selected
Sometime in July — Finalists announced; all entrants notified by mail soon after
July 27&28, 2008 - auditions for festival productions
Sometime in August -- One Act winner selected by the committee and readers, but we keep it a secret for a while
September 13, 2008  — McLaren Festival; staged readings of full length Finalists with winners selected by audience vote.
September 14, 2008 - Both happy winners announced on website!

Please note that the table below may not be updated immediately. We'll do our best, though.

Script numbers are assigned in the order they are processed and accepted. They are issued to readers in random order.
The page with the author's name is removed to maximize fairness. (Blind readings, in other words).
If you want to include the title page separately from the bound script, that would be OK.

For those of you who have entered the McLaren before, be aware that the window of opportunity is different this year. We will
accept scripts from January 1 through the last day of February. Most of the submission requirements will remain the same.
There will be some changes in the festival this year -  the One Acts will not be performed at the festival, and the winner of
that division will be selected by our committee and readers.

We now have the 2008 brochure ready for download.

And don't forget, if you have an accepted entry, and if you have a website you'd like us to link to,
send us the URL and we'll be happy to do that for you. The email address is "mclaren1 at mctmidland dot org"
or use this handy java-cloaked email link right here:

The full length entries are listed first, followed by the one act entries.
When the Honorable Mentions have been selected, the cells in that column will be given little smiley faces.

The process will continue for the other awards as the process goes on.

Titles which do not receive the Honorable Mention designation will be removed
at that point, to allow their authors to grieve privately.

No. Title Honorable Mention or Above Semi-finals or above Finalists Winners
